Era
If you aren't a 3D only kinda guy, the Era may
be your ticket. While it can do most 3D
maneuvers, it is extremely easy to fly. This is
a hard plane to miss in the sky, or on the
ground. Our hopes for this plane were to look
like a 30's era racer. My Son, who is usually
afraid of flying low, is now dragging the tail
on fly-by's with this plane. Takeoff takes
about 20' due to the low attack angle of the
plane, very cool to see a foamy race through
the yard. Simply throttle it up and let it get to
speed, elevator only when starting your roll.
The running gear needs a fast motor, as a
small prop is required for ground clearance. It
is very happy running the DS 400ES on an 8-
9” prop with an 1000mAh GT. I've tried a
larger sized motors with the same rpm range
(1200kv), while still fun, there were not any
worthwhile performance gains. Weight with a
GT850 and DS400 motor is about 12.6oz
